Family-owned and run since 1834, this famous five-star luxurious hotel is perched on cliff tops, commanding a spectacular view of the Bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius. Beautiful gardens and a five-acre orange grove surround the hotel, and its gates open into the main square in Sorrento. Renovations and Closures The Grande Albergo EXCELSIOR VITTORIA, which consists of 3 different buildings, connected only on the ground floor where guests will find the Lobby, Reception Desk, Concierge & Vittoria Restaurant, will undergo a refurbishment program. Guests will be accommodated in a building that is not undergoing refurbishment. Because of the unique situation with the individual buildings, guests should not be affected during their stay. The work might cause minor noise or disturbance at some moments but work hours are restricted to avoid discomfort for the guests. - 01 November 2003 to 15 December 2003 and 07 January 2004 to 31 March 2004 * VITTORIA Building - Restoration of all "frescoes" in each guest room * RIVALE Building - CLOSED for refurbishment of the rooms on the 4th & 6th floors -- and restoration of the in-room frescoes. * FAVORITA Building may have to be plastered.
